Job Summary
This position under the direction of the Cibola County Sheriff’s Office. Maintains general security and safety of the District Court and County Complex in Cibola County; operates metal detectors and x-ray screening machines to detect concealed weapons and hazardous objects; prevents unauthorized access to restricted areas; patrols facilities as directed and monitors video cameras; provides customer service as required. Responsible for the safety of detainees while on transport.
Work Environment
Work in varying degrees of temperature (heated or air conditioned), including possible exposure to extreme temperatures depending on weather conditions. Must be willing to carry a firearm; work irregular hours, including being called in, or required to stay beyond designated shift assignment.
Job Responsibilities
Perform entrance control: Enforce the District's entry and identification system which includes operating security screening equipment to detect weapons, contraband, and prohibited items, checking items such as handbags, briefcases, computers, packages, baby carriages, wheelchairs, etc.
Perform stationary post assignments: Stand guard at stationary posts which includes (but not limited to) monitoring closed-circuit television, duress alarm systems and other security equipment, courtrooms, judge chambers, and jury rooms.
Enforce law and order: Enforce federal law while in the performance of assigned duties. This includes (but not limited to) detaining any person attempting to gain unauthorized access to Government property, or a court proceeding(s) or attempting to commit acts that imperil the safety and security of Government employees, property and the public.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
Must have a valid New Mexico driver’s license.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Must be able to complete and pass a firearm training course.
May not have any DWI or DUI within the last five (5) years.
Pass a pre-employment drug test, physical, and background investigation.
Employee must reside within Cibola County.
