Job Summary

Voter Rights Liaison works closely with the Voter Rights Coordinators (VRC) and other Bureau of Elections staff to develop and promote voter registration, voter education, and election awareness required to stay in compliance with the Voting Rights Compliance Act.  Oversee polling locations and ensure seasonal election personnel are sufficient in number and well trained. 


Work Environment

Work is performed in an office environment; occasionally works outside; travel by car to polling locations and to training or meetings; continuous contact with the public, other staff, and outside agencies. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma, GED or equivalent.

Knowledge of the New Mexico Election Code and Federal Voting Rights Compliance Act and principles, practices, and procedures of election administration.

Advanced computer technology experience and skills.

Ability to conduct meetings and training sessions with staff and community volunteers.

Ability to maintain effective working relationship with associates, election officials and the public.

Ability to operate mechanical and electronic voting machine equipment and accessories.

Ability to work independently of daily supervision and to exercise discretionary judgement and thinking. 

Must have a valid New Mexico driver’s license.  For out of state driver’s license, must obtain a valid New Mexico driver’s license within six (6) months of employment.

May not have any DWI or DUI within the last five (5) years.

Pass a pre-employment drug test, physical, and background investigation.

Ability to listen, understand and communicate verbally and in writing in English.

Able to organize and prioritize work, use of time efficiently.

This position requires residing in Cibola County and the ability to comply with safety guidelines and policies of the County
