BUDGET ANALYST - OFFICE OF THE MANAGER

Job Summary

Budget analyst will audit, monitor, prepare, and report governmental operating budgets, reports, and budget adjustments.  Provide financial analysis, review administrative resolutions and ordinances on agenda items presented the board of County Commissioners.  Prepare a diverse range of reports and analysis to include accounts payable, and payroll planning and expenses.
Performs other administrative support duties as assigned. 


Work Environment
Work is performed in an office environment; occasionally works outside; travel by car to other departments and to training or meetings; continuous contact with the public, other staff, and outside agencies. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a closely related field preferred; or five (5) years or more of accounting, economics, business administration in government finance.
  • Analytical skills to be able to solve problems that may come up during a typical workday.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • The successful applicant will possess excellent communication skills (writing, editing, and speaking): a detail orientation; strong work ethic; and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.
  • Effective oral presentations skills.
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects and priorities concurrently.
  • Must have a valid New Mexico driver’s license. For out of state driver’s license, must obtain a valid New Mexico driver’s license within six (6) months of employment.
  • May not have any DWI or DUI within the last five (5) years.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug test, physical, and background investigation.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Employee must comply with the personal policies and the safety guidelines of the County.
  • Must reside within reasonable commuting distance of the worksite.
