APPRAISER – ASSESSOR'S OFFICE
Under the general guidance of the County Assessor and Chief Deputy Assessor, learns to perform a variety of technical functions involving the appraisal of residential and personal property for the Cibola County Assessor’s Office; determines and verifies the market value of property. Assists the Assessor’s Office customers and constituents, and performs clerical duties, other related duties as assigned.
This job operates in a professional office environment and in the field when conducting appraisals; subject to sitting for extended periods of time, standing, and walking; exposure to variable weather conditions is involved. This position requires frequent contact with the public which exposes the incumbent to others’ illnesses and to individuals that may be angry, agitated, or otherwise upset. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as a laptop, desktop, smartphone, photocopiers, shredders, and filing cabinets. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
Two (2) years clerical/office experience preferred.
Must be able to manage multiple projects and priorities concurrently.
Ability to work independently of daily supervision and to exercise discretionary judgement and thinking.
Must have a valid New Mexico driver’s license. For out of state license, must obtain a valid New Mexico driver’s license within six (6) months of employment.
May not have any DWI or DUI within the last five (5) years.
Pass a pre-employment drug test, physical, and background investigation.
Strong communication skills and be able to write clearly and informatively, listen and get clarification, respond well to questions.
Able to organize and prioritize work; use of time efficiently.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
This position requires residing in Cibola County and the ability to comply with safety guidelines and policies of the County.
